Getting Fingerprinted

Getting Fingerprinted

Once you have your printed Referral Form (see Applying Online), you will need to be photographed and fingerprinted, in person, by a Department of Education technician.

You will need to bring the following items:

  1. Your printed Referral Form*
  2. A government-issued photo I.D. (Driver's license or passport.)
  3. If your sponsoring organization is not paying your background check fee, you will need to bring a check or money order for $60 to pay the one-time, non-refundable fingerprinting and background check fee. (Cash and credit cards are not currently accepted.)

* If you were unable to print your Fingerprint Referral Form, you will be able to print it at the fingerprinting location. Please make sure you have your Applicant Gateway password with you so that you can log in to print your form when you arrive.

Fingerprinting At HR Connect

Fingerprinting takes place at the Department of Education's HR Connect office in the lobby of 65 Court St., Brooklyn.

The office is near Brooklyn Borough Hall, which is served by the A, C, F, R, 2, 3, 4, and 5 trains, and many buses.

Hours are 9:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. The office is closed on City holidays.

No appointment is necessary.

Fingerprinting at a Mobile Unit

For large groups of volunteers, a Go Pass Member Organization may arrange an on-site fingerprinting session using the Department of Education's Mobile Unit.

If you are unable to attend the Mobile Unit session, you must go to 65 Court St. to be fingerprinted any time during office hours.
