Applying Online
The Applicant Gateway is the secure website used by the NYC Department of Education to collect information from people applying to work in our schools. It is also used for Go Pass applications.
You will need to use a computer with an Internet connection to apply. There are computers at the fingerprinting location which you are welcome to use to complete your application and/or print the required form.
The main steps to follow at the Applicant Gateway are:
- Activate your account using the link and instructions in the email sent to you when your sponsoring organization added you to their roster
- Log in
- Create a new Go Pass Volunteer application if necessary
- Confirm your profile
- Submit the Moral Questionnaire
- Generate a Fingerprint Referral Form
- Print out the form

Step by step instructions
The first step is for your sponsoring organization to add you to their Go Pass Roster. They will need the following information from you:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- Social Security Number*
- Address
- Phone number
- Email address
Once you are added to a Go Pass roster, you will receive an email that allows you to complete the following steps.
* Your Social Security Number is only needed at the start of this process. After that, your sponsoring organization will only ever see the last four digits of your SSN.
Step 1: Activate Account
Follow the account activation link sent to your email address to create a new password.
The password you chose must contain a combination of uppercase, lowercase, and numbers. It must be at least 6 characters long.
Step 2: Login
Enter the email address and password for your Applicant Gateway account and click the Sign In button.
Step 3: Confirm Profile
There should be a new Go Pass Volunteer application at the bottom of the screen. If there is not, click "Instructions for Go Pass Volunteers" and follow the instructions to create a new application.
The next step is to click "CONFIRM PROFILE" under Forms Requiring Action.

Verify the information that is already entered on your profile, and fill in any blank fields.
Click the Update button when finished.

Fill out the Questionnaire by clicking Yes or No for each question.

If you answer Yes to any questions, a space will appear for you to provide more information and an explanation of the Yes answer.
When finished with the questions, check the agreement box at the bottom of the form, then click Submit.
Step 5: Referral Form
Now generate your personalized fingerprint referral form.
Click "Fingerprint Referral Form" under Forms Requiring Action.

If there is any profile information missing, you will see the Edit Profile screen. Fill in the missing fields and click Submit.
Read through the form and make sure that all information is correct. If there is any incorrect info, click Edit Profile at the top of the page.
Click the Submit button to submit the referral form.
Step 6: Print Referral Form
The final step is to print your referral form.
To print the form, click on "Fingerprint Referral Form" under Submitted Forms.
When the form opens, go to File > Print in your web browser's menu, OR type Ctrl+P, to print the form.
If you do not have a printer or cannot print the form, you may print the form when you arrive for fingerprinting. There are computers and printers available at the fingerprint location for this purpose.
